At Underdog, we are immensely proud of our involvement in projects which focus on upliftment and social development as well as HIV / AIDS prevention. We were absolutely delighted to tackle the 2008 Community Builder of the Year award for Sowetan, SABC 2 and Old Mutual.
Each category has its own presenter who travels with the crew to all the various finalists’ projects. This created a new challenge in that the presenters had been booked for a week each in advance, making it essential that the profiles for each category be shot chronologically as opposed to by province. The result was that the crew were never in any province for much longer than a day.
From the Big Hole of Kimberley, to the hills of Ingwavuma and the beaches of Table Bay – our crew went everywhere! Our celebrity presenters Michelle Garforth-Venter (Adult), Dingaan Mokebe (Youth), Patrick Shai (Senior) and Ntokozo Mbuli (Group) were often followed by fans and always created a stir when we arrived at the various projects.
The Community Builder of the Year is a wonderful project at a time in South Africa when we need to recognise great achievement and every day heroes and heroines.
